• Pre-budget recommendations to the Canadian government for jobs

On 1 March, the Business council calls on Canada for supporting economic recovery and long-term growth with job creation. The recommendations were given to promote economic recovery in the state. The letter called on the federal government to remove barriers to labor market integration.
• Ontario PNP announces an invitation for Express Entry Candidates for 10 targeted occupations

The state of Ontario invited nurses, accountants, and investment managers for applying to the Express Entry pool to apply for a provincial nomination for 754 Express Entry candidates on March 2. The candidates require CRS in the range 463-467.
• Spouse or common-law sponsorship applications accepted

You can apply for a family sponsorship program while being with your Canadian spouse or common-law partner. The recent challenges from COVID stuck many people who had planned to travel.

• BC invites 444 immigration candidates in new PNP round

In 2021, British Columbia has invited 1831 immigration candidates so far. In two PNP draws held on March 2, there were 444 immigration candidates invited. These invites were issued to the candidates from Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry BC (EEBC) program. The minimum range of the scores ranged between 83 and 97 and a total of 418 were invited in this draw, and 26 invites were given to the candidates with scoring of 118.

• Quebec launches 3 invitation programs

Quebec announced the launch of three new immigration pilot programs over the upcoming weeks in the following segments:

1.Health (orderlies)
2.Food processing
3.Information Technology, AI, and visual effects

The pilots will expectedly last for a maximum of 5 years. The main aim for attracting and retaining immigrants is for skilled workers to meet Quebec’s labor market requirements.

• Alberta PNP Draw invitation for minimum CRS of 352

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program invited 159 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 352. The candidates invited in Alberta’s PNP draw had their profile in Express Entry System. Express Entry candidates are closer for their PR in Alberta.

• Northern regions of Ontario making communities more welcoming

Northern Ontario is presently facing a shortage in labor due to the declining population. This population issue was laid with short-term and long-term plans for growing the population. There were discussions made for making the communities welcoming to immigrants and other Canadians. A plan was developed with cohesive working and the brand was updated every year. The action plan was meant to welcome more newcomers and the present residents in the communities.

• Ontario held Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)

The Express Entry French-Speaking skilled worker stream in 2021 invited 271 candidates for the state of Ontario. 126 candidates were invited for French-Speaking Skilled Worker (FSSW) stream in this application.

• Reduction in processing time for family class applications

IRCC plans for new office space expansion with 62 additional employees hired. This new staff will be working for family-class overseas applications. This is mainly done for shortening the processing times extended during the pandemic. The new space will increase the capacity and allow the immigration department to flexibly evaluate its requirements in the coming years.

• Quebec falls short of the nurses: Radio-Canada

The state of Quebec requires filling the present shortage of nurses by making recruitment abroad. The recruitment sessions will be held in Belgium and France for recruiting 1700 nurses and over two hundred orderlies to Quebec.

• Work permit options for Entrepreneurs in 2021

Work permits are the primary step for foreign entrepreneurs for running a Canadian business. There are policy changes made for immigration pathways for the new entrepreneurs. The owner/operator category under TFWP (Temporary Foreign Worke Program) will be removed on April 1, 2021.

• Exemption for some essential workers from work permits and quarantine

Some foreign workers are looking forward to serving the essential occupations through an electronic travel authorization (eTA) or temporary resident visa (TRV). The workers coming to support clinical requirements and are exempted from travel restrictions do not require a work permit to legally work in Canada. There are certain workers exempted from the 14-day quarantine period and government-approved hotels for 3 days.

• 671 PNP Candidates invited for Express Entry

Canada invited 671 Express Entry candidates for sending the applications on March 8. IRCC invited candidates with a minimum scoring of 739 with CRS scoring of 139 without provincial nomination.

• Saskatchewan invites 248 PNP candidates

SINP invited 1975 immigration candidates for applying for a provincial nomination with the nomination on March 11 for 248 principal applicants.

• Manitoba held a new PNP draw

299 candidates held a new PNP draw with a total of 1292 candidates invited in 2021. Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) draws for Letter of Advice to Apply through the three streams: Skilled Workers Overseas, International Education Stream, and Skilled Workers in Manitoba.

• New Brunswick committed to welcome immigrants

There were 2740 nominations attained through the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) in 2020 and Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIP) through a press release.

• Ontario introduces Express of Interest system for 5 immigration streams

There are public consultations suggested for the new system for a fairer and more predictable nominee program. OINP works for Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) used in the system for managing new registrants. The job offer category streams are for in-demand skills, foreign workers, or international students; along with the Ph.D. Graduate and Masters Graduate Stream.

• PNP Draw for Alberta

Alberta has invited 709 Express Entry Candidates for applying for the provincial nomination. Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) has invited 200 Express Entry Candidates for applying for the Alberta Express Entry stream and the requirement for minimum CRS is 301.

• BC invitation for 506 candidates in PNP draw

PNP has invited a total of 2432 candidates for applying for the provincial nomination so far in 2021 and on March 16, they issued applications for 506 invites. The people who obtained invites were from Skilled workers, Entry level, semi-skilled, and international graduate subcategories.

• 183 PNP candidates invited in Express Entry draw

Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada invited candidates with a min. CRS of 682. The Express Entry Candidates who got a provincial nomination from the state are automatically given 600 pts above their original human capital scoring. These invites were given to the candidates who previously received a nomination from PNP.

• 5000 CEC candidates invited through Express Entry Program

Canada invited 5000 Express Entry candidates to apply for PR on March 18. The total number of newcomers committed through Express Entry programs this year was 108,500. A minimum score of 449 is required for getting an invite to apply.

• PEI PNP invites 150 candidates for a new draw

Express entry and labor impact (140 applications in total), and business impact (10 applications) candidates were invited to apply for a provincial nomination for PR.

• Ontario nominated 15,303 new immigrants through PNP in 2020

Ontario nominated a high number of immigrants in 2020. There were 8054 principal applicants nominated coming with 15303 nominations in total.

• Tech Pilot Draw for BC for Entrepreneur Immigration Pilot

There were 95 invites given to apply for a provincial nomination for PR on March 23. This was done for Skilled Immigration and Express Entry programs in BC.

• 418 PNP candidates invited through SINP

On March 24, Saskatchewan invited the immigration candidates to apply for getting a provincial nomination. The eligibility was for the nomination from SINP from the international skilled worker category.

• 335 Invited in Manitoba new PNP draw

On March 25, the invitation is sent to 335 new Canadian immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination through Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) to get closer to PR status.

• French-speaking Express Entry Candidates invited by Nova Scotia

On March 29, the Nova Scotia Labor Market Priorities released the invites from 329 French-speaking candidates. The LOI were issued for the candidates having French as their first official language.

• Sex-identifiers can be revamped by Temporary Residents for Canadian Immigration documents

The immigration department allows temporary residents for changing the gender identifier on immigration documents. Three identifiers are ‘m’, ‘f’ and ‘x’. The changes could be made only if the papers are not on the historical records.
